How do you mount Highbays?

Mounting an LED high bay is relatively simple, if done correctly.

1. Suspension

Most LED Highbays come with:

• Suspension eye (standard)
• Chain mounting

For warehouses, suspension from a chain or threaded rod, directly to the roof structure, is usually chosen.

2. Determining mounting height

The mounting height is crucial for:

• Light distribution
• Shadow formation

A rule of thumb:

• 4–6 meters → 100W to 150W
• 6–8 meters → 150W to 200W
• 8–12 meters → 200W to 240W

3. Electrical connection

Professional highbays are directly connected to 230V.

• Dimmable driver (1-10V or DALI)

• External emergency unit

How many Highbays do I need?

The required number depends on:

Narrow beam (60°)

For higher mounting heights (10 meters or more), a 60° beam angle is often chosen. This concentrates the light more downwards, reducing light loss.

Example calculation

Warehouse:

• 1,000 m²
• 7 meters high
• Desired illuminance: 300 lux

Required lumens:
1,000 m² × 300 lux = 300,000 lumens

When using 200W highbays (30,000 lumens):
300,000 / 30,000 = 10 luminaires

This is a simplified calculation. For accurate project lighting, we recommend a professional lighting plan.

Which wattage Highbay do I need?

The right choice depends on:

Guidelines for lux values:

• Storage room: 150–200 lux
• Warehouse with order picking: 250–300 lux
